DiffLens — Privacy Policy

DiffLens is a browser extension that compares two pieces of text and shows the differences. This policy explains what data the extension does and does not handle.

Data we collect

None. DiffLens does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There is no analytics, no tracking, no remote server, and no account. The extension requests no host permissions and makes no network requests of any kind — the text you compare never leaves your browser.

Data stored on your device

The extension saves your work locally using the browser's chrome.storage.local API. This data stays on your own device, contains only the two texts you are comparing, any comparisons you choose to save to History, and your view/compare preferences, and is never sent anywhere by us. You can erase it by clearing the panes, deleting saved History entries, or removing the extension.

Permissions

• storage — to remember your text and settings between sessions.
• contextMenus — to add the right-click "set as Text A/B" entries so you can capture selected text from a page. Only the text you explicitly select is read, only when you click the menu item; nothing is transmitted.

Files you open or drop into DiffLens are read locally with the browser's FileReader and are never uploaded.
